Brad served as Consulting Historian for Spike150, Utah’s official organizers for the Transcontinental Railroad’s 150th anniversary celebration. He has worked in the field of public history–museums, historical societies, archives, libraries and historic preservation organizations–for over forty years.
Brad’s degrees are in American Studies (BYU, Provo, 1985) and Historic Preservation (Univ. of Penn, Philadelphia, 1994). He is the former Director of the Utah Division of State History (2013-2018), Manager of Collections and Acquisitions (library, archives and museum) for the LDS Church History Department (2008-2013), and Assistant Chair, then Chair of the L. Tom Perry Special Collections Library at BYU (1995-2008). He lives in Springville, Utah with his wife Virlie. They have two sons, both with young families, both tech entrepreneurs.
